Hiya! :D 1, 3, 17 for the writing ask thingy if you don’t mind ❤️
No problem, I’m happy to procrastinate for a little longer :D
1 - how many WIPS do you have? Published? 4.
But if you’re including the ones still in my drafts folder? Well, I just did a quick count and that would be more like 18. Most are fanfics, but some are my own original works. Still... yikes. That number is a lot higher than I thought it’d be. Maybe I shouldn’t procrastinate so much...
Anyway, let’s keep procrastinating!
3 - canonverse or AU? Definitely canonverse. I love AUs, don’t get me wrong, but there’s just something about remoulding canon for my ships that makes me feel happy.
17 - describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage. Ooh, okay, fun! I have a lot of coldflash fics still in the ideas stage, but this is one of my favourites.
So, the idea came to me when realised that most coldflash soulmate stories always seem to follow a similar plot: they discover they’re soulmates, Character A accepts it right away but Character B doesn’t, so A spends the entire fic trying to convince B to date them. It’s great! I love that type of fic and have read more of them than I care to admit. But, it got me thinking...
What if neither Len or Barry thought that dating was a good idea? What if they both just called it quits from the beginning and tried to put it out of their heads? How would Fate intervene to push these two idiots together?
And thus, this idea was born!
The entire fic is the Universe essentially pulling a parent trap on Barry and Len to force them to admit their feelings and get together, the situations they find themselves in becoming increasingly more unlikely and staged as time passes. It cycles through all of the best tropes, from being forced to work together undercover to take down a baddie, to getting locked into a safe together while fighting as Flash and Captain Cold, to curses and huddling for warmth, even to accidentally getting set up on a blind date with each other! 🤷🏻♀️
Because, well, Fate’s a bitch, and she hates people messing with her plans.
Plus, as amazing as it is to have Character B slowly come to realise that A is actually amazing and the one for them, sometimes you just have to put them in a room together with only one bed and no heater during a snow storm...
