it was only her second year of it - the seventy-sixth annual hunger games - and yet, the victor couldn't imagine doing this for the rest of her days. she had opted to deliberately ignore the reaping, which was probably not the best idea, since she now knew next to nothing about the tribute she had to guide. guilt pricked at katniss for her selfish act ; she might as well have succumbed to the escape of alcohol by now, like her own former mentor, for all the use she was. in fact, hauntingly enough, she had considered the foggy, surreal escape several times before.

the thing about winning the games was this - once you're crowned, you're never F R E E again. you're forced to relive your own memories forever, and add the games of tributes you failed to guide out of that arena as well. she might've told her tributes this bitter truth if she had a heart to, but they were just scared kids. they didn't deserve this. she was a kid herself, only eighteen years old, and would have still be eligible for the reaping if she had never volunteered a million years ago. or what seemed like it.

vaguely, a voice in the background ( or was it the back of her mind ? ) told the girl that it was time to meet her tribute. l y d i a , her name was. ᴀɴxɪᴇᴛy rose like bile in the back of her throat ; she didn't want to look the other girl in the eye. because it was always worse, when she looked into their eyes, and watched the light go out of their hues when they died. not to mention she had only mentored one other tribute so far, and lost them. she didn't want to lose this one, too. she couldn't in fact, and wouldn't. fingernails dug into the material of her stiff, capitol-made garment, as the huntress braced herself and swiftly stepped into the room, her introduction already feeling s t a l e on shaking lips.

When time allows for him to do so, he will depart from his place of residence for the purpose of venturing to a location that is ideal for witnessing the dawning of a new day. There is something more motivating to be discovered in the process of accomplishing that task as opposed to watching the closing of a day. He supposes that it has something to do with the former being a presentation of light.
