my personal favourite takeaway from charles' basketball date reel? how happy these two look to be spending time with each other. like, say what you want about piarles, but these two? they always look like they are having the best fun together.

for starters:

they look SO mischievous here, omfg. these grins?? these are literally the grins of those two troublemakers in class, when you KNOW they're about to pull of a prank, and they know it too, and they're thoroughly delighted with themselves. that's how they look here - partners in crime, and thrilled to be.

but then! just before we can move on:

please observe this moment with me. these two babygirls turn to look at each other, and they're still grinning like idiots, but oh my god, they look so FOND it's almost unbearable. like?? the way charles is looking at pierre here?? the way pierre is looking back?? LITERALLY THE HAPPY CUTE DATE SCENE IN A HALLMARK MOVIE. omfg.

then also this!! THE moment!

pierre is making charles laugh so hard that he literally has to duck his ENTIRE HEAD from the force of it. and even still, you can see how widely he is smiling. and then also pierre?!! LOOK how delighted his smile is, omfg. he is making his bestie laugh and he's having the best time in the world doing it. love that for them!

last but not least! a shoutout to this little moment before their hug at the end:

this one did NOT want to properly screenshot, so apologies for the shit quality, but. look at charles' dimples, oh my fucking god. look at how he just fully smiles his way into pierre's arms. he looks SO HAPPY and content to be hugging his bf (best friend), bless 🥺

(also side note: i am a little bit obsessed with how the hug in the very end of this reel felt so... predestined, perfectly built up to, red string of fate, idk. you see charles delightedly hugging NBA players. pierre doing the same. and then you KNOW they're about to hug each other. you can just tell. and they both look so fucking happy to do it, and then charles grabs onto pierre's sweater sleeve like the best kind of possessive bastard, and --)

but that's a whole other conversation. the POINT is: piarles are forever happy to spend time with each other, and i actually think that's the best thing ever. this warmth, these effortless smiles? there really is nothing quite like the comfort and joy of spending time with a childhood best friend, and i think that comes through in the loveliest way when these two spend time together.

so! i conclude that these two love each other's company more than anyone else's, and they're making it the entire world's business ❤️

Charles, for a beat, looks relieved. Then he takes a breath, rubs at one eye, and says it: “I want to do Le Mans.” Pierre raises an eyebrow. “You have been retired for not even two years, Charlo. I don’t think they would say no to a multi-year world champion, but even still—” “Pierre,” Charles interrupts, still looking serious. Pierre stops talking immediately. “I want us to do Le Mans. Together.” (or: in the 2030s, pierre and charles decide to actually race le mans the way they've always dreamed of. they figure some things out along the way.)
