[Naked meme] To be completely fair, the other engineer was only half naked, her shirt was slowly melting off her sturdy frame along with her bra. Sighing, she looked around to make sure she was alone after the 'gremlin' had ran off. She couldn't cross her arms over her chest for fear of burning her arms. "Don't let Keenser work today, little bastard sneezed on me. Also, do you have something I can wear until I get to sickbay?"

Half naked or not, that was definitely a lot of naked and… well, Scotty was only human - a human male, at that. So to look up from his work and see M’hari barely wearing anything at all was a bit of a shock to his system. “Ah… right. Told him to head straight to Dr. McCoy but… ye know how he is.” He chuckled a little, trying to keep his gaze at her eye-level, gentleman that he was, after all. Scotty almost forgot what she had originally asked him. “Clothing, yeah? You can wear this… eh… jacket! For now.” He hadn’t been wearing it much lately, anyway, and stepping closer, he somewhat awkwardly draped it around her shoulders.

The sudden embrace made One tense and wipe at her eyes. She had no idea Charlie even knew how to get into her locked office. Once she caught the warm sense that it was indeed Charlie, One turned and hugged the girl back. Unashamed of the tears that flowed down her face. “I couldn’t save him…” she wept.

“I know,” Charlie soothed. “But you did your best. He knows that.”

She’d never seen the woman so crushed about anything before, but she knew that this had been a hard day.

“Do you want any tea, Auntie?”

Nathanael had only been on board for a couple of months, but he already felt at home and had managed to get several friends. Though, the one he had thought would most likely become his friend was actually the person he had become closest to. If she saw him as a friend, he didn’t know, but he saw her as one.

There personalities were very different, but they shared being half-human as well as a love for science. Though Nat had to keep that first part secret for the sake of a father he had never met. M’Hari was one of three who knew the truth. The CMO and the Captain were the other two, both for obvious reasons.

Nat had been working in Sickbay as usual when he had been told to come to the briefing room. They had spotted a drifting ship, of unknown design, only a few minutes away. Once they had gotten close enough to better scan it, it showed that there were too much interference to detect if there was anyone alive in there. Nat had been assigned to be on the team boarding the ship.

“What kind of species do you think it is?” he asked M’Hari as he stepped up on the transporter pad, medical kit clutched in his hand.

Scotty chuckled. “Are you sure about this, love? You know when it comes to ye I could go on all day. Well, where to begin? When I first saw you, well.. beautiful is not the right word for it. Ethereal, perhaps. Angelic, if I’m being well and truly sentimental.”

“‘Course then ye opened yer mouth and… yes, we’ve had our lively debates, and I should tell you I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Never before have I met someone who not only enjoys talkin’ about this sort of thing, but actually knows what they’re talkin’ about, as well. You keep me on my toes. I know I don’t deserve yet, but… well, I’m not about to question it.”

“Oh, and you’re an exceptional kisser, I’d like to add. That and… well, there’s a few other things you’re quite talented at, too.”

Academy Days: M'Hari and Scotty

To say that Montgomery Scott butted heads with teachers and students alike was an understatement. There was a reason why it had taken him this long to get into the academy. Well, multiple reasons, actually. He was not the type of young man to just sit back and let things be taught or said a certain way, especially when it was the wrong way. He was stubborn through and through, and the stereotype that the Scottish had a temper and were good at arguing certainly held true for him. Except that he did know what he was talking about - well, most of the time, anyway, but when it had to do with engineering. He’d felt he’d earned his place there, no matter how long it had taken Starfleet to see it. 

M'Hari wasn’t like the other students. That wasn’t to say that there weren’t other students who knew what they were talking about, but she was intelligent, and could debate with him all day long if given the chance. Usually it was he who relented, or the teacher who interjected, because class was over and honestly they were just giving him a headache. But they debated without name calling, without really getting that angry with one another - though, more often than not, he was annoyed if only when she was absolutely right in her argument. 

And he had never really seen her outside of class or elsewhere on the academy campus... until tonight. Again ever the Scotsman, he had a penchant for drinking, and that night was no exception. The bar was often frequented by students and he actually had half a mind to flirt with one of the girls he recognized from a class... when he saw her there, by herself,  appearing to be ordering a drink. So of course he joined her side. 

“Well! Cannae say I expected to see you here,” Scotty announced himself, an amused and very smug smirk on his lips almost as if to say, ha - you are just like the rest of us.

M'Hari looked at the engineer and blushed a faint gray. Of all the humans she had met so far, he was the only one that she could debate with and have it not end up in some kind of name calling match. Honestly, the names some called each other on this planet were so incorrect. Not only does she find Scotty fascinating, but rather adorable. (Fore the muse describing how they feel about the muse thing)

When Scotty finds out how she feels, initially he might chide her for ‘adorable’ not sounding particularly manly, but secretly he won’t mind. He likes debating with her, pleased to find someone else so passionate about engineering - someone who actually knows what they’re talking about, too. (Not to mention the fact she’s really quite pretty when she smiles at him.)

“Hi, Ms. M’Hari!” Charlie had known the woman for her entire life, but she couldn’t quite call Number One by her first name only. “Thanks for coming to my graduation! I can’t believe I’ve finally made it! I’m a Starfleet officer now! Lieutenant Maldonado has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”
