Why do other Filipinos gotta tell me I'm not a "real" Filipina b/c I cannot speak nor understand Tagalog? Fuck all of you who ever told me that. Fuck you all for making me hate being Filipina growing up. So the fuck what if our food is the only real connection  I have to our culture? Is it that inconceivable for parents to have not taught their child so they could assimilate faster? Do you have to make fun of my American accent when I'm trying to speak or learn? Fuck that. Fuck having to prove my Filipina-ness to all of you.

Half Filipina💜 @badbitchofcolor Here's me being cute, chubby, and curly-headed. and I'm still trying not to equate my looks to my "filipinoness." I've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be Filipino in American society. I've been noticing a lot of negative attitudes towards Filipinx people, and it makes me embarrassed and ashamed sometimes. But then I think of my family and my culture and I realize the only reason people would not like us would be because they don't know/understand us. I refuse to blame my people for the colonialist ideals that have allowed people to hate and look down on us.
