So five years ago Els and I made our 'final' Low Countries album 'The Invisible Ray'. I thought it would be fun to mark the occasion by playing the album live with a real band - so I asked three of the finest musicians in Lancaster to join us for a one-off gig - unfortunately they weren't available so we did it with Rob, Darren and Marc. Pictured is the poster for said gig and a top night was had by all. I thought that would be that and I would give up music having reached the toppermost levels of bitterness & seething resentment. Well, playing music with these musicians proved too enjoyable to give up so we carried on, no grand plan, just gigging away through the laughter, tears (of joy I presume) and other unidentifiable fluids. Skip a bit - Marc has retired, Els has left the country - but we managed to make a definitive final album 'We Weathered The Storm' together, before they jumped. This Saturday, five (five!! It feels like more) years on we'll be putting on a gig for this album, a final gig together (I'm leaving the country - for legal reasons - in July ) with my good friends Darren, Rob & the relative new boy Dom Williams (lead guitar), plus a few guests... Support from The Broken-Hearted Few and Pill Fangs. £5 entry, doors 8.30pm, albums only a fiver! Gregson Centre, Moorgate, Lancaster.
