A Very Imperial Valentines Week - Day 3 - Secret Relationship
Hera Syndulla and Baron Valen Rudor
Wishing everyone a happy Valentines’s Day! I double-indulged today, by not only drawing my fave crack pairing but also making what I think miiight be the first proper kiss I’ve ever drawn. (I like these two because she’s an ace rebel pilot and he’s supposedly an ace imperial pilot - but he keeps getting his TIE fighter broken because of her actions. :D )
Hera is a rebel flying ace, cool-headed, principled and competent. Kindly disposed in general, but capable of carrying out hard or dirty work if she feels a situation requires it. I’m not going into length about her since she’s a main character and all, but I do like that she’s got this wry little streak and a sort of selectively nurturing philosophy - she’ll protect what’s hers and stand up for what’s right, but she’ll be ruthless and destructive where she so wishes.
Rudor is an imperial flying ace, but mostly an embarrassing mess. A little cowardly, quite stuffy and stiff-mannered (if not shrieking in fear), quick to anger and very petty, capable of fighting/harming someone who inconveniences him but also capable of cowering if someone who inconveniences him is more dangerous than him.
About the ship
Total crackship because they’re both flying aces, but opposite characters.
I merely love oddball ships where the main heroine hooks up with the cowardly, luckless low-tier-villain type of character. There’s something vaguely cosy about an ‘enemies-to-lovers’ thing where the enemy character was barely competent to pose any kind of proper threat in the first place.
So it’s pretty much a goofy thing, but I’m fond of mixing in angst as a side dish if it’s entertaining?
Oddly specific stuff I’d like to see exist
(No particular nudging towards actually picking any of these topics, but they might serve as an idea jump point or a general sense of what I ‘imagine’ when I think of the pairing).
Unrequited/one-sided infatuation of Rudor towards Hera. Maybe unwittingly aides her or actually does something to his own detriment due to not having the nerve to engage her as an enemy, to her bemusement.
Some situation where another crash landing befalls him and she spares his life/both crash and they have to work together/any situation where they talk and he gets a verbal smackdown or some subtle little thing to nag his conscience about working for the Empire when he does return home.
Do not wants: no rape/non-con themes please
Here are some links which you might find useful, who knows!
I want to make a pilot shipping (Hera Syndulla x Baron Rudor*, for anyone not in the know) picture next. But, it is one of those themes that I cannot find inspiration for (unless it is long stuff, that I am sadly in no timeframe to make right now).
*Yes, really.
So please if you feel like it, I’d love any suggestions?
the action or process of working together to the same end; assistance, especially by complying readily with requests.
Not seeing any other option, Hera took the late CN-357‘s TIE pilot suit and began to dress, keeping her own flight gear beneath. She pushed back the uncomfortable feeling of wearing a dead man’s clothes. It would soon be unbearably cold and he wouldn’t be needing them anyway, she rationalised.
‘I don’t really think that will help much’, Rudor sniffed, frowning as soon as he saw her.
‘I think those guys must hate the Empire just as much as dissidents’, he added. ‘Besides, it’s a little large for you. And not a very likely disguise, to be perfectly honest. I mean - aliens in the Imperial Navy?’
‘Shocking, I know. Alright’, Hera sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. ‘So... Do you have a better idea?’
The pilot looked at her with a slightly hurt expression, as if he suspected mockery.
‘I didn’t ask that to provoke you or anything’, she quickly explained. ‘I’m just not keen on being recognised out here in the open. At this point, all suggestions are welcome.’
‘Well, I don’t have any’, the pilot huffed. ‘You could put the helmet on too, I suppose. If those things fit in.’
‘They’re called lekku, thank you very much, and they’ll fit. Mostly. Well, that is all we’ve got - we carry the loads, both wearing the pilot suits. We cross the canyon - and hope no one shoots us on sight?’
‘...Yes.’
‘Fine, let’s do it. I can live with that.’
‘Live?’ Rudor muttered. ‘We’ll see about that.’
‘Your positive attitude really isn’t endearing you to anyone, you know that?’
