First formally described in 1984 by Australian botantist Barbara Lynette Rye in the journal Nuytsia.

Endemic to the south-west corner of Western Australia, mostly on hills and breakaways in a wide variety of soils.

#1769 - Pimelea ferruginea - Pink Riceflower

From the Greek pimele, soft fat, presumably referring to the oily seeds or fleshy cotyledons and ferruginea...rust coloured 

Spotted among dense low shore vegetation, on laterite soil and exposed granite rock, overlooking Smith’s Beach Yallingup. 

A small but prolifically flowering shrub, native to coastal areas of south Western Australia in sand dunes or rocky soils. But a popular garden plant as well - and why wouldn’t it be with that amazing a floral display. It was described by Labillardiere in 1805.

#1551 - Pimelea suaveolens - Scented Banjine

A slender shrub that grows in forested areas of the south-west of Western Australia from New Norcia to Albany. This one was in Wandoo woodland in the Dryandra Woodlands.

Pimelea suaveolens, commonly known as scented banjine, as the specific epithet indicates, it smells beautifully sweet. One of the lovely Thymelaeaceae shrubs found in SW Western Australia.
