These enchanting Mermaid Cookies in shades of pink and aqua are a treat both for the eyes and the taste buds. With a marbled design reminiscent of ocean waves and a hint of edible glitter, they're perfect for adding a touch of magic to any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 cups all-purpose flour. teaspoon salt. Pink and aqua food coloring. Edible glitter or pearl dust optional.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add pink food coloring to one portion and aqua food coloring to the other. Knead each portion until the color is evenly distributed. Wrap each colored dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Take a small amount of pink and aqua dough, roll them into thin ropes, and twist them together to create a marbled effect. Form heart shapes from the twisted dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
