Dirk and Meenah: Battle

The coordinates he sent led to the back of the fortress. The room they were in was massive, and in the very center was the forge. It lit the center of the room dimly, the magma that heated it boiling away. The edges of the room were lit by lights that studded across the ground against the walls. It was vast and empty, carved out from the mountain. There were several doors that led to several rooms, and a massive set of double doors that led out of the mountain, but all the doors were locked. Dirk sat in a spot between the forge and the double doors that led out. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, the tip of the blade dug into the ground. His hand was on one knee.

His face was grim. Stoney. His knuckles were white as he gripped his sword. His Unbreakable Katana. As unbreakable as he was. Or, so he thought. It had broken once before. And so had he.

He waited, breathing deep and steadily. He could feel his heart thudding in his chest. Fighting always focused him. Fighting was his drug. He wanted it. Craved it. If he didn’t fight, he questioned himself.
