I keep seeing the same thing posted over and over, that no teams seem to want to take on Ellsbury’s contract. Why would any team waste their time trying to secure a player or even enter talks about a player who has publicly stated he has no intention of waiving his NO TRADE CLAUSE? Lots of speculation about Ellsbury possibly going to the Giants. No, that’s not true. Neither Ellsbury or his agent Scott Boras have said that he would be willing to go anywhere. As a matter of FACT, again, Ellsbury has publicly stated that he will not leave the Yankees. THEN, a bright idea! What if we package Clint Frazier with Ellsbury and send them both to the Giants since the Giants have two outfield positions open?! Frazier would be the incentive needed to get a deal to happen! No, in real life, you can’t do that because ELLSBURY HAS PUBLICLY STATED HE’S NOT GOING TO WAIVE HIS NO TRADE CLAUSE!! Yesterday, the Giants picked up Andrew McCutchen from the Pittsburgh Pirates, SO, that blows the chance of Ellsbury going to the the Giants with or without Frazier. NO, Ellsbury’s NO TRADE CLAUSE has blown any chance of Ellsbury going to the Giants with or without anyone else in tow!! Today another writer came up with another GENIUS landing spot for Ellsbury!! I really hope he didn’t stay up all night coming up with that, BECAUSE ... you guessed it ... Ellsbury has a NO TRADE CLAUSE!!
So, until the Yankees have figured out a way to get Jacoby Ellsbury/Scott Boras to waive his no trade clause and publicly announce what teams he is willing to be traded to ... NOTHING will happen in regard to Ellsbury being traded ANYWHERE!! If the NTC is waived, I think that there will start to be interest. He’s a veteran player with above average defensive skills and he is an inconsistent hitter that can hit when pressured by the fans and benching him. Unfortunately, the media has blown things so out of proportion with him that many fans hate him. With that being the case, I can only see him getting worse while in pinstripes. I have been a fan of Ellsbury since he was on the Red Sox. Always hoped that someday he’d be in pinstripes. That worked for a while, but now it’s time to move on. He’s gotta go. Hopefully, for his sake, he’ll let go of the NTC and go somewhere where he can make an impact ... if he stays healthy.
