Piper stood in front of the hall closet, colored ruffles poking out from under the door. She had barricaded the door closed, and was sweating. Behind her, there was light laughter and a camera flash.
“Piper McLean, eternal bridesmaid.” Percy said from behind her, and Piper spun around in her old bridesmaid dress. Her eyes set on his messy hair, perfect jaw and cheekbones. Her heart fluttered, laughing as he clapped.
“I know, this one is disgusting. What color is this?” She laughed, pointing to the dress with ruffles up to her neck, skirt starting right below her bust. Percy laughed harder, snapping a picture.
“God, so many dresses.” Percy shook his head, and Piper sat on the couch next to him. With a sigh she rested her head on his shoulder, laughing.
“I know. I planned every. Single. One of those weddings.” Piper said, and Percy shook his head.
“No way.”
“Yes way.” She giggled, glancing at the clock. “You probably need to get back to your cubicle, writing about marriages.” Piper teased, and Percy grinned.
“It’s too cheesy, I know.” Percy whined, and Piper sat up, “I’ll be going. I’ll call you.” He told her before Piper smiled.
“I’d like that.” The door closed, and she sighed. It was bittersweet, being in the same room as him. He made her laugh and want to tear every throw pillow in her house. Yet, she loved the feeling. She loved it for the whole past three years they knew each other, every time they were alone she craved that feeling. Piper was hopeless.
The phone rang, and she fell of the couch to get it, answering.
“’Ello?” She flicked hair from her face.
“Piper, I forgot something.” Percy’s voice came through the phone, and Piper stood up, staring at the door. “Want to open the door or am I going to wait all day?”
Piper hung up and walked to the door fast, yanking it open.
“You forgot something?” She asked, breathing hard. Percy nodded, leaning in and kissing him quickly.
It felt like flowers blooming in her chest, and Piper pulled him closer, only from Percy to pull away.
