The State of PIP

Hey Tumblr friends, since we’ve gotten some questions about it I thought I would take a sec to talk about Past Is Prologue, my health, and what’s next. 

If you’ve been here a while, you probably know around the time @bazaarwords and I started PIP, I was diagnosed with cancer. A very aggressive form of leukemia called AML, to be specific. For a while, I was able to keep writing while bored in my hospital room, but as soon as my treatment really got going, I was barely able to move or speak, let alone form coherent thoughts at a computer. My notebook is full of things I don’t remember writing, fragments of thoughts and pleas for privacy or medication or both. 

I decided not to talk about it much publicly (even a number of my friends and family didn’t know) because I didn’t know how to talk about it. I still don’t, honestly. I know that in the face of illness or death I don’t owe anyone anything, but you’ve all been very patient and many of you have left uplifting comments on my stories and even reached out to me to wish me well, and I cannot thank you enough. 

I have been so lucky to have an incredible team of doctors and nurses, and a wonderful, unwavering support system. Because of them I’m happy to report that I’m officially in remission!

So! PIP will absolutely be continuing. @bazaarwords and @osmriceu have been absolute champs and have been really supportive of me taking the time I need, but I do have to ask for a little more time from both them and from you. I am still recovering (5 rounds of chemo does a lot to your mind and body) and I’m rusty as hell. I don’t want to release anything before I’m happy with it!

As for my other fics: thanks for asking about them! PIP is coming first, but definitely don’t count them out. :)
