17 yrs before his death (120 years ago) #Dunfermline’s famous son #AndrewCarnegie bought & soon gifted #PittencrieffPark to the people of Dunfermline. He was banned from it as a child for stealing #apples, so that nobody else would be deprived access he gave it to the City. In 1094 he planted this #Oak. Quercus robur - Native Oak. His wife an Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and other luminaries a mix of natives. These are planted near the Pavillion.
