Well, I mean… you could give me Iyami singing “I’m Henry the 8th I am” for four hours and I’d love it because I really like it when my faves sing, but the whole thing was very well done imo. Opinion on why theres a drastic lack of good Iyami merch?? I mean even nintendo has a full character mario plush line, but we cant even get past the matsus.

Well… I guess they just don’t think of Iyami as marketable enough? If I recall it correctly, the 1st cour batch of merch was a little more experimental, there was even Shonosuke Hijirisawa merch, but as the 2nd cour rolled along, merch that only featured the Matsunos must have made a better revenue, so they focused almost exclusively on that instead. Not to mention they’ve rebranded - Iyami is still more associated with -kun, he’s “from that cartoon your dad used to watch”, if that makes any sense. He’s not hip with the kids the way the -san sextuplets are. Iyami and Totoko still have it a little better than the other side characters, though. Chibita merch is basically non-existent. A blasphemy…

But I mean, Atsushi ascended from one-shot background character to a fan favorite and started getting featured in merch, so who’s to say there couldn’t be an Iyami Renaissance in the future? Maybe if we profess our love for the trash man really hard they’ll listen.

How wold you feel about a Season 2 episode where the matsus, and their crew, go on a trip to america (or just anywhere, world tour episode counts) and are there any events you could see taking place during it?

I thinkthat’d have plenty of potential to be entertaining! I’m envisioning it in myhead as being a bit like the Period Drama Osomatsu-san episode, like made up ofshort skits taking place in America? A few silly ideas I’ve come up with:

Buddy CopMovie parody with Ichimatsu as the jaded cop who hates his job and Osomatsu asthe wacky newcomer. Features a lot of gratuitous English

Similarly,a high school movie parody starring Choromatsu as the nerd trying to get the attentionof the popular girl (Totoko, obviously) and Jyushimatsu as the jock

Dayon and Dekapangoing on a cross-country car hunt for Bigfoot

A “Americanreality TV” parody a la The Real Housewives featuring the Girlymatsus

Karamatsu goingto Hollywood to have his “talent” “discovered” but ending up as a street fastfood chain sign spinner

Iyamiworking as a tour guide introducing tourists to America’s most famouslandmarks, except he doesn’t actually know anything about them so he keepschanging the subject to France’s landmarks instead, to everyone’s indignation

TheIdolmatsus rebranding themselves to be popular overseas and ending up lookinglike some unholy *NSYNC/Backstreet Boys fusion

Not sure if you've seen the -kun episode they're from (ep61), but in case, how would you feel about it if Chibita and Jajako stayed together and sold oden together in -san?

Oh yeah! Jajako-chan! I think she had a different name on the 60s version of this story? But sure, why not? That’d be an interesting dynamic and it’d be nice for the -san cast to have another reoccurring girl on it (hence why they’re hyping Nyaa-chan up more lately I think?). Besides, I’m a big fan of Chibita Being Happy, in one way or another!
