“[W]e're not trained on the ‘pizza call’, its not an actual thing. That being said, as long as you don't get a dispatcher who has a Forrest Gump level IQ, you can say almost anything (I need to schedule a doctor's appt. I need to bring my car in for service, etc.) and we will get it! What we are trained in is picking up on subtle clues. If we ask if you know you're calling 911 and you say yes, we will start asking pertinent Yes or no questions to get help to you.”
“I was a 911 operator and I was never trained for this. I took a call from a woman who asked for a taxi and I did just as you said: asked her if she meant to call 911 and she said yes so I followed protocol to get her the police. She was very calm. I was impressed with her demeanor and quick-thinking.“
