Excercise and Wizarding.
After my first session of combat (a gym group session based around martial arts) for the year I found myself walking and feeling a bit different. The odd mind I have instantly thought a spell that could have been put on me and I immediately started to seek out the culprate. There was nobody to Stupefy so with that stupid theory being put to rest I instantly reflected on the torture I had just inflicted on my poor body.
Although me and excercise rarely get along, this evening really made me think about what it does to my mind and body.
Walking taller - Not because of platform chucks or the delicious stretches to my spine I did at the end of class but doing something good for yourself does make you walk with your head a bit higher because you are feeling like a confident gym ape who is extremely slender and toned. Actually stretches to the spine scientifically could be a thing that plays with your height not to sure….
Feeling happier - Im sure you’ve heard it 100 times about all these interesting feel good chemicals (My google is being slow so no proper name for those little gems today) in your body that get released when you do exercise. Yes they exist, yes they do get released and yes they do make you feel good which then leads to a super stoked you, feeling like a million bucks cause you did something positive for your body instead of putting something positively delicious inside of it.
Eating healthier - Okay this one could be up for debate but I personally find that when I’ve had a good work out the last thing I want to do is eat a big fat pizza because in the long run it means just that, i’ll have to go for a long run. Also you’ve made this great big effort to burn some of that pizza off your ass from the previous take out night why add to it.
I remember after my first week of fully committed training I went into a clothes store and grabbed a top a size smaller then the one I usually wear. It didnt fit in case you were waiting for this big rewarding story but in my mind I was a bloody size smaller and that top just didnt know it was meant to fit me. That right there is a perfect example of the way excercise can alter your minds perception of yourself.
You could easily put the positive feelings and mind altering effects of excercise down to the little points above or if you are an eccentric weirdo person like me and prefer something way more interesting, exciting and non existent then blame it on the magic.
