Bottoms is one of my favorite teen lesbian movies because being gay is just . . . not that important in it.
Like, obviously the movie wouldn't be the same without it and it's crucial to Josie and PJ's characters, but there's no sexuality crisis. There's no internalized homophobia. Even our resident angel princess Isabel doesn't really have a gay awakening she just realizes she likes a girl more than her boyfriend.
It's not a movie about lesbians, it's about horny violent teenagers that happen to be lesbians, and that means so much to me that we're allowed to have that.
