Read the new volume of Snotgirl. My issue with the comic so far was the slice of life stuff was phenomenal but I wanted the fantasy plot stuff to be teased out a little faster. Volume 4 very much makes good on that bringing the plot to the forefront and honestly, I was wrong. The mystery story works so much better because you love these characters now. Such smart comics. Also this one had lesbian sex so idk hell yeah
Today I spoke at my local protest for trans rights. I spoke of my position as the great-great granddaughter of my Nana who herself was a child of the holocaust. I did so to make clear the gravitas of what I was saying. The Supreme Court of the UK made a decision that had the unmistakable stink of Facism to it.
If you cut Trans women ALL women bleed. They do not care about trans women they care about stripping women of rights and do that little by little by separating us and making us small. They turn us against ourselves and they tell us we must fear one another. More than ever we need solidarity.
A socialist I recognise from the weekly pro-Palestine rally’s spoke, and eloquently so. From behind me I heard derision from young people. This man who was fighting for the rights of all people was seen as lesser for reason of his presentation. A neo-liberal mind virus has placated the queer community for too long. Too long we have been placated and convinced of the importance of seeing ourselves on the shelf of a supermarket. Real change will not come from the hand of capital. We see ourselves as individuals more now than we ever have. This is antithetical to our cause.
Trans rights are Human rights. Solidarity now between all facing facism.
