.@CCHPounder, thank you for this catalogue from your exhibition at @XavierUniversity She sent this to me by way of the wifey (@VictoriousPlatt), who was working down in New Orleans recently. . What most people may not know is, CC is actually the person responsible for me opening my first gallery in the first place. And what others may not know is, CC is one of the greatest modern-day Patron Saints for the Arts... She has championed and supported and done virtually everything one could do to advocate for Artists. And she, besides her acting profession, is an artist, as well. . I had just produced 4 exhibitions out of my house over the span of a year, when CC called and said, in that very sultry of British accents, Terrell, I'm opening a gallery (Pounder-Kone Artspace) on Pico and there is a space available next to mine and you should come take a look at it. And my reply was why? She says, because you're going to open an art gallery. . And I bursted into laughter. CC, I'm NOT opening a gallery, are you crazy? I don't want a commercial space, hell no? And she said, but look at all the great artists you've already shown, they deserve a greater platform. And my thought was, well, they better go somewhere else, quickly. . For about 10mins we bantered back and forth about me coming to see this space, which I thought was an absurd idea. Finally, FINE, I'll come look at the day place. I'll be right over. (What a waste of time THIS was going to be, but at least I'll see my friend for a moment). . I walked in, it was dank, musty and a complete mess, but I kept walking back and forth and seeing if there was something more to this place... It didn't take long... 15mins after walking in, I'd asked for the lease agreement... THAT moment began our first formal art gallery...Tilford Art Group. . 15 years later, rebranded as Band of Vices, we'll be opening our new gallery in Los Angeles. Hope to see you this Saturday. .
