tfw you finally manage to beat your bro in a sword fight but now he's injured and that throws you off and you manage to cut yourself on accident and how he's getting away and your good suit is ruined and it's just not a good day tbh

Reasons to love...

Firth

He was the one who discovered Randall after he fell.

Cared for and looked after Randall for 18 years.

Viewed Randall as his own son.

When Randall left suddenly, he immediately went to look for him.

Was more of a father than Randall's biological father.

Lives a peaceful life in Craggy Dale.

That beard. Just look at it!

Has absolutely no recognition in the fandom whatsoever.

Beard dad needs love.

And a haircut.

Shifting Gears AU: Firth wins both the 'best dad of the year' award and the 'most stressed out dad of the year' award, doesn't he? Also, I'm guessing Angela takes Layton's role, to some extent?

Yes and yes.

Firth definitely has his hands full with Randall’s adventurous nature and Hershel’s need to fiddle with anything slightly mechanical, but he loves his chaotic amnesiac sons and treats them as if they’re his flesh and blood.

Though he’d definitively be confused/stressed when he comes back to them in the middle of an explosive fight neither will tell him the reason of. Things get worse when Hershel disappears first, then Randall sometime later.

And Angela does indeed become a professor. I’m not sure yet what she’d go into (or what her last name should be) but she’d be the one that befriends Clark, Brenda and Claire in Gressenheller, goes on to date Claire and is called to Misthallery/the opera/Monte d’Or by her old friends/student.

I was trying to figure out how to put Firth into the Pandora’s Call Au/Mysterious Mask in a way that lets Zacharias still be Randall’s ‘brother’ and I think I’ve got it figured out.

Zacharias (and rouge because she’s yes) could have been orphans that Firth took in as well, though they were a lot younger when he did take them in. Then along comes Randall and Firth now has a third child.

I just like the idea of Firth adopting these three red headed orphans and all of them causing him worry with their less than safe jobs (Zacharias being a knight fighting witches, Rogue owning a bar that serves somewhat shady people and Randall being a self proclaimed ‘archeologist’, whatever that is).
