Defer
Boyle Heights native Alex Kizu, aka Defer, has been an influential part of the Los Angeles graffiti art movement since the mid 80s and was part of pioneering crews K2S, STN, and KGB. In the 2016 film, Dark Progressivism, Defer recounts the turbulent context he came up through, including being shot twice. Rising out of that dark past he has embraced a wide variety of art mediums, building on the distinctly LA “placaso” style and refining his “handstyle” typographic skills into what Gallery 446 calls “lyrical and beautiful.” This piece was painted for The Container Yard on 4th St. in the LA Arts District. @deferk2s
