Place de l’Opera, watercolor, 30 x 40″
After several trips to Paris and painting cafes and street scenes, I began to zero in on the shop windows and their reflections of the surrounding street. This image is from the United Colors of Benneton windows in the Place de l’Opera. I liked the way the faces were partially obscured by the reflections of the buildings and the people. You can see the grey concrete railing of the Metro exit in the left panel.
Magasin des Meubles, watercolor, 30 x 40″
I waited to take the photo for this painting until someone walked past the store and was reflected in the mirror that was along the back wall inside the store. You can just makeup the reflection of a parked motorcycle in from of the couch and coffee table.
