looks big and long enough to eat the owner of the snook
Nope, def not big enough for that.
But big enough to cause serious injury, so needs to be treated with respect.
I guess you can equate what I’m doing with Sunny to “manning” a hawk. She was very skittish when she first came to live with us, and was huffing and pushing with her coils whenever I’d touch her.
Now she’s comfortable with me being there, and even touching her head and face.
After I give her the meds, I let her explore the quarantine room for 30-60 minutes. I sit or lie on the floor, so that she gets to encounter me on her eye level, and not towering over her, all scary like. She comes up to me, investigates a bit, then moves on.
Aside from medicating and bathing her, I don’t make her do anything against her will, so she’s beginning to learn that she’s got nothing to worry about from me.
That’s also why the pictures and videos of her are fairly repetitive. She’s a snake, and as such, she doesn’t do much beyond slithering about and investigating things. Well, and looking gorgeous of course.
In time, I hope she’ll be comfortable enough to just hang out with me on the couch, but for now, I’m glad she’s getting used to my presence and my touch.
