La Planchada is a ghost from Mexican folklore. A former nurse, stories of her origin vary. Some say she killed a patient, or that she killed herself after she was rejected by a doctor she was attracted to. There are several hospitals throughout Mexico where sightings have been reported, with descriptions of her varying. Some say she floats, others that she walks with no sound.
Because of her name, she is often incorrectly described as a woman who was crushed to death. However, La Planchada, meaning "the ironed lady," refers to her neatly pressed uniform.
