Dinosaur-like beasts attack the exploratory robot John in the Soviet-era Russian film Planeta Bur (1962).

This film was later acquired by producer Roger Corman, who hired two directors to re-use the footage for Americanized films.

The first, Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965), starred Basil Rathbone and Faith Domergue replacing two of the original Russian actors. Rathbone and Domergue's characters stayed on a spaceship, monitoring the action planetside, and never interacted (at least face-to-face) with the other characters.

The second, Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, was released in 1968. This time bombshell Mamie Van Doren and a few other blondes were filmed traipsing about on a beach, wearing bikini bottoms and strategically-place seashells on their chests. The new footage was edited in with the original footage, and the story became one of astronauts on Venus being attacked by the native women.
