Reading this made me curl up into such a tight ball of anger and sadness. The pattern of abuse she learned to inflict is horrific and to turn someone's community against them is downright cruel. I'm so, so sorry this has happened. I hope the people she has turned will soon see the truth (regardless of being allowed back into your good graces afterward), but until then I hope you can quickly and painlessly learn to be at peace in your own home. ❤
Thank you, truly. Even when we started talking about moving in together, I thought, “If this goes tits up, that’s the end of me being in fandom” and that was where I gave my power away - taking on the work of keeping the peace, which it turned out was futile, because harmony takes investment from both of us.
I’ve spent a good amount of time with them in queues and at parties. A few of us hang out at other bands’ shows. You’d assume after so long that they’d know me and i’d know them. Meanwhile she withheld an opportunity to meet the band from the top dog because she thinks they’re, in her words, a stalker. She is bad news and the thought of having a little tea party has crossed my mind but there’s nothing to gain from gossip (especially in the midst of a smear campaign) and someone’s got to take the high road here. I am hurt that they turned against me so quickly and willingly but the only thing to do is to move on and live well. The rest is out of my hands.

Was the removal at least gentle? Or do you remember it? I have this horrid memory of a dentist putting his foot on my chest to yank a molar free.
That part itself, like Ctrl+Alt+Del. Not a single memory of the procedure itself, just the seconds before it where I was being put in the chair and rigged up to the cannula, them saying they were going to start and me going, “Okay”, and then I blinked and my mouth was loaded with gauze. I don’t know what my body was my doing but my brain leapt for the chance to check out

I'm one of those, 'long time fan, long time lurkers' on the old boards so it makes me super sad to see everyone clique up like this. Nature of the beast, maybe.
I find a lot of fan groups inevitably become region-specific even if they’ve got members worldwide...the US and UK subgroups will stick to each other like barnacles. Then there are other levels like OGs, special interests etc. I suppose FFPB set the tone for that and despite posting there for a decade, it’s a wall i’ve never been able to get over.
It happens in Australia, too, like the Goat Island family, but the mood is very different and it gets absorbed into the Aussie crew as a whole. Like they’ve got that special experience but we all run in the same circles so it feels shared in a way. The Aussies are just awesome like that. Yet there’s little representation of us on FFPB because, yeah, same problem
