Yeah, I finally tried it! When I saw this the other day, I was so excited to see something new and vegan in bakery called @pekaradubravica so I bought it for my breakfast and I was NOT that impressed! But here is my review! 🐷 . What? @adezhrv @adezitalia @cocacolahr @cocacola Chilling Coconut Berry 250ml . Where? @pekaradubravica #Zagreb #Croatia . How much? 9 HRK or ~1.2 EUR . Packaging: I have to say I like the packaging and it is attractive to the eye, but in a wrong way! When I see this bottle it tells me I will get amazing creamy vegan yoghurt, but instead, it's just flavoured water! So, okay packaging, but missleading! And I like this is PET 1, recyclable and it's #plantbottle . I expected something more yogurty, but instead I got berry flavoured coconut water! It was not that bad, but it is not my cup of tee. Maybe other drinks taste differently and I will like them more. And of course, I will update all of you! . #vegan #govegan #veganfood #coconut #coconutwater #adez #adezhrvatska #berry #veganblog #veganfoodblogger (at Zagreb, Croatia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvzwsHGnXEU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kd7iq3yjyt2u
THE DISCIPLINE for the video that I’ve researched is sustainable/natual food and drink packaging.
1. Design to satisfy real needs as opposed to transient, fashionable or market driven needs.
1.7 billion servings of Coke products are consumed every day. If you assume that they all use either glass, paper or plastic - that’s one hell of an amount of resources being used every day to transport these servings. Therefore there is a ‘real need’ to reduce the amount of oil used in plastic bottles.
2. Design to minimise the ecological footprint of the product/material/service product, i.e. reduce resource consumption, including energy and water.
Reducing the amount of oil means that the footprint of the product is quite reduced. Making the bottle entirely plant based means that a lot of oil goes unused by Coca-Cola.
3. Design to harness solar income (sun, wind, water or sea power) rather than use non renewable nature capital such as fossil fuels.
New bottle material will use 100% plant based materials, therefore harnesses solar income.
8. Design to exclude innovation lethargy by re-examining original assumptions behind existing concepts and products/materials/service products.
Coca-Cola have re-examined the existing glass bottle to update it to plastic and now is continuing to make the retail bottle entirely green.
12. Design to foster debate and challenge the status quo surrounding existing products/materials/service products;
Coca-Cola has a massive family of products which this will effect - it owns a lot of the UK drinks industry. Competitors will take note and look at alternative ways to package their products too.
14. Design to create more sustainable products materials service products for a more sustainable future.
Making this product will then load on to further sustainable ‘savings’ in future.
"You really must have a passion and commitment, because there is so much to be done and it's a long journey for all of us. It's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication. But you must also come at it from a business mindset and clearly understand the benefits to the business in the short term and long term." - Beatriz Perez, Coca-Cola CSO

Sounds great! Now for the problems...
1) Although bioplastic PET can be recycled, the long term impact of the mixing of bioplastics with synthetic PET on the quality and recyclability of new products containing this material remains unknown
2) Much of the feed stock for these bottles is coming from ethanol, a product with large environmental impacts that is NOT emissions neutral
3) In usual form this "solution" is focused on "fixing" problems of consumption/disposal, not on the system of production. Perhaps we should ask: why do have disposal plastic bottles to manage in the first place?
