Gisha Hiara, the 10 Year Blog
10 years ago today, Gisha’s blog was born. My elemental pyromancer was conceived prior to the blog, but her story really took off on tumblr.
She started as a League of Legends fan character, based in Zaun before the lore rewrites and long before the Netflix show. A war orphan with a terrible past, most of Gisha’s stories involved helping people who were suffering or fighting bad guys in Zaun. It was funny, I had envisioned her as an angsty antihero… that didn’t last long at all.
A lot of characters changed her over time, especially as she eventually moved away from the League fandom. She became protective of those she loved, more inquisitive, less distrusting. People really brought out Gisha’s more accepting nature after a few years.
These days she’s matronly, less of a lost soul and more of a powerful figure. Shes confident and generally unwavering. I like to imagine in her fantasy canon that she will one day be the most powerful, yet reserved primordial force in the land. A legend in the chaotic magics.
I’m happy for all the roleplay she’s been a part of. I’m happy for all those who have partaken of her story. I’m happy for all the art and content I’ve been able to create for her. Gisha ended up being my most invested character by far, and I love her for it.
If you’re reading this now, thanks for being a part of her story. It makes me quite emotional to open up her original posts and see all the usernames… mostly long, long gone. There’s a lot to be said about tumblr, but I don’t know where me and Gisha would be without it.
Happy 10 years Gisha
