Coronavirus: China Requests Healed Patients To Hand Over Their Blood for Plasma Cure
Chinese health authorities on Monday (Feb 17) motivated patients who have been cured from the coronavirus to lend their blood so that plasma can be pulled out to treat others who are critically in danger. Drug manufacturers are doing their best to create a vaccine and cure for the epidemic, which has caused the lives of 1,770 individual and infected more than 70,500 individuals around China.
Plasma Infusion
Plasma from patients who have treated from a spell of pneumonia levered by Covid-19 has antibodies that can support in reduction of the virus load in critically diseased patients. This has been noted on Monday by an officer from NHC (China's National Health Commission).
Guo Yanhong, the head of NHC's medical management department, said that the blood of those people who already recoverd from Covid-19 can provide hope to many people who are still battling for their health. So far, there have been 11 patients present in the hostpital in Wuhan who already obtained plasma infusions the previous week, according to Sun Yanrong (one of the staff of the Biological Centre at the Ministry of Science and Technology).
It has also been noted by the officials that it's good to know that there is increasing numbers of patients who are recovering compared before. According to experts, when done correctly, the plasma infusions can become a success to improve the health of the patients in a span of 24 hour-period.
Final Thoughts
Of course, the World Health Organization continues to monitor and supervize everything in as much as they could. This is to ensure the safety operation of the plasma infusions. Safety of people is the priority. And, Sun Yanrong mentioned that the said blood infusion is totally safe and working.
The process is amazing because according to experts, only plasma will be taken out and infused it to the needed patient. The rest of the components of the blood of the donor will be taken back to the donor.
