Hubble Captures Images Of A Plasma Jet Bursting From A Black Hole

Thanks to the Hubble Telescope’s tireless watch of galaxies far, far away, NASA scientists now have images of something typically only seen in the movies. A plasma jet was captured bursting from a distant black hole located 260 million light-years from earth. The jet is estimated to be traveling at 98 percent the speed of light. It is comprised of several orbs that are moving in line, but bumping into one another, creating blasts of energy and brightening as they do.
The two high-speed jets of plasma move almost at the speed of light and stream out in opposite directions at right angles to the disc of matter surrounding the black hole, extending thousands of light-years into space. NASA
