Plasma Facelift
A plasma face-lift is actually a misnomer – this type of procedure doesn’t involve any surgery. In a normal facelift, the doctor makes incisions around the face and “lifts” the saggy skin to get rid of wrinkles. With a plasma facelift, there are no incisions or stitches, making it safer and perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time for recover. With this procedure, the body uses its own healing powers to slow down the aging process. To start, the doctor first harvests platelets from the patient’s own blood. They take a small amount of blood and then put it on a centrifuge in order to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The plasma contains the platelets, which have a lot of proteins that help the body recover from injury. In the same way these platelets can heal the body, it can also help aged skin. After harvesting the platelets, the doctor then injects it into the face. The platelets then work their magic, releasing growth factors which encourages the cells in the face to begin rejuvenating. The skin becomes firmer and younger-looking, so a plasma facelift not only stops the aging process, but can actually reverse it.
Plasma facelift is also known by a few other names – vampire facelit, PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, and autologous rejuvenation therapy. Aside from cosmetic purposes, PRP has also been used in a number of other medical procedures. Doctors have used it to heal muscles and ligaments, treat skin lesions, and even reduce chronic pain in some patients. The growth factors in plasma can heal almost any type of tissue damage and skin injuries. It can also be used for non-facial cosmetic procedures. Some doctors recommend it for those who want to make their hands, tops of feet, elbows, and even knees look younger and rejuvenate droopy and dehydrated skin.
