Some bits from Plastic Nee-san.
Plastic Nee-san
+チック姉さん
(ONA)
Gag anime by Cha Kurii
Era: 2010s
Rating: C
Plot: It's the model-making club, and Nee-san, the president, is a big troublemaker with a tiny model castle on top of her blonde head, who can't stop making fun the other members, Okappa, calm and relaxed but prone to extreme acts of violence and with a model train on too of her black hair, and Makimaki, who's often caught in the middle of all this, and has a model tank on top of her brown hair.
Length: 12 episodes (~2 minutes)
Thoughts: I swear I'm not doing this because I'm running low on newer shows I want to watch and I'm lazy, but also don't want to push back the cutoff year so I'm trying to find the shortest things possible. It's one of those I got a YouTube video suggested and thought to myself "why not" before realising yes, it has 12 episodes, but they are almost as long as the OP of a normal show, because it's the kind of stuff I'd go through in full gladly.
It's a bit hard to understand the whole deal because there's so little context to anything: it's short, 2 minute skits with no connection between, truly made to promote the manga, presenting other characters, like Saotomi, a slightly chubby girl and self-proclaimed beauty, Kuniki, the captain of the baseball team who wears women's underwear and is not afraid to show it in public or the tiny twins Uno and Sano, tormented into making mochi by their giant classmate Cindy. The stories are bizarre, very frequently ending up in violence, but are very well animated for what without context feels like another shitpost in anime form. I feel there's nothing much more to say about it, since it's so short I'm spending more time thinking of anything to say than I did watching it. It feels like work and I don't like it.
So, did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I like it more watching it before Asobi Asobase, which came seven years later, and also deals with schoolgirls in a club losing their mind? Yes. Would I like to see a full half-hour, 12 episode season of it? Hard to say because everything there's zero connection between stories, but put me in for a "maybe". Did it make me want to read the manga? Yes, but not immediately, I'm scheduling this five months in advance, so if you're reading this, still didn't. So, where does this takes us as far as rating goes? Not that it matters, as I recall more bits from lower rated shows than some higher ones, and there's a lot more in this tier that is worse, but moving it up would mean going head to head with other shows that sustained the same good impression for longer. It's a good C you can watch over a meal. Maybe not in public, as it means a bit heavy in the fanservice.
Recommended to: want to see schoolgirls acting unhinged?
Plus:
It's very well animated for something intended to be so simple
It's generally funny and you never know what's coming next
Minus:
This is very literally a sample
