A new plant-derived sustainable ‘plastic’ from MIT researchers is as tough as bone and hard as aluminum. Learn more about it here.
Aw yes, back at it again with recyclable shit.
The organizers behind the London Marathon will use edible, biodegradable seaweed pouches containing water in place of thousands plastic bottles during the race on Sunday in a push toward sustainability.
This year the London Marathon used biodegradable seaweed pouches in place of thousands of plastic water bottles. They also used compostable cups at their energy drink stations.
The seaweed pouches are called Ooho and were invented by Skipping Rock Labs. A single Ooho pouch costs about 2 cents to produce. They’re also edible.
In the future, Ooho pouches could be used to replace plastic sauce/dressing sachets. The company is also working on a biodegradable grease-and-water-proof lining for cardboard takeout containers.
