The two greatest philosophers
The philosopher I admire the most is Plato. Plato believes that the self is almost the same with the soul, and to support that, he introduces the idea of the three part soul/self such as Reason, Physical Appetite, and the Spirit/Passion.
Reason gives us understanding on how to think deeper on what should we do or what we’re doing is right and just that will help us to choose the right choice. His philosophy was ever useful and made us even more close to knowing oneself and contributed a big part in understanding the eternal truths that classifies us as humans.
Physical appetite is the essential needs in order to survive life. His deep understanding led us to think what we should prioritize among millions of things/to do’s to balance that these days science continue to support and study as well. And due to this, we now have patterns to follow and became the basis of understanding on how to prolong life. Spirit or passion it identifies where we could get happiness, anger, empathy, ambition, and aggressiveness. As he pointed out the causes of these feelings, it made us able to control emotions to avoid conflict. For him, conflict can occur anytime, and if conflict of emotion occurs, your understanding of the reason is the measure on how you’re going to pull the situation back to normal.
The second philosopher I admire is St. Augustine, As he agreed on Plato’s philosophy and added Christianity that contributed a big part in humanity and belief. St. Augustine uses Plato’s views for his teachings of Christianity that dealt a drastic change in the humanity. He added that whoever chose to be lawful is considered as God’s creation. Therefore, humans should choose good over evil. If philosophers never existed, the world would be so different. There are some point that I agree on other philosophers, each one of them somehow contributed and brought us here today. if they were alive until now, we should thank them for having everything explained and made easy for us to understand the seen and the unseen.
