ok I just need to rant
so. I don’t ship phan. it’s ok if you do, but I personally don’t. but sometimes what seems like harmless shipping just makes me cringe. like when people say 2016 is a great year bc Dan is so “gay” or bc they act like they’re in a relationship. that makes my skin crawl. for one thing, you should never assume someone’s sexuality. don’t assume they’re straight or gay or ace or anything in between. and sorry to say it, but 14 year old Dan isn’t a reliable source for how Dan feels now, 10 years later. another thing. people are excited about this year bc they’re so “gay”. not because they’ve accomplished so much. as their fans, we should support them as creators and as people above all. not as a ship. it’s fine to harmlessly think they’d make a good couple but as soon as you assume anything about their sexuality or relationship, or put that above who they are as people or creators, that’s when it’s gone too far. because it’s not right. how would you assume if someone only liked you because of a ship? a ship between you and a person who you weren’t even necessarily attracted to? idk I’m just really uncomfortable about it all…
