Gastric brooding frog! Incredible amphibian, the female incubates its eggs and brood’s its tadpoles in its stomach until they have metamorphosed into froglets she then ‘gives birth’ to them through her mouth. To accomplish this the female swallows her fertilised eggs and does not eat throughout the incubation period 6-7 weeks.
Sadly both species endemic to Australia are now probably extinct.
