"Are you asking me to live or not to kill?" Mystery didn't see a use in speaking with the hunters. Not really. Their purpose was not to get close with one another, to grow fond of one another. Their purpose was to get rid of one another. To spill each others blood so their homes would be more fulfilled. Her home would be safer without him and likewise his home would be safer without her. Her people could live without fear if they were gone and his demons could eat without starvation if they were gone. There was no hope for understanding between them not with the world as it was.
"I cannot agree to that request." There's no reason to lie or pretend like he isn't what he is. They both see it, they both know he's deadly and death is simply in his nature. Maye it's in both their natures. Ultimately he can't understand why she would ask him for such a thing. Did she not realize what they were? He knew she had to know. She had the capability to hill him in her. He could see it, he admired it even. So why was she concerned if he lived or died? She must have meant for him not to kill anyone. It was the only thing that made sense to him. Even still it was an incredibly confusing request to him. That only added to the mystery of her existence to him.
"... I don't need to hunt tonight" Transforming, performing as human was exhausting. He was starved. But he was used to hunger, he could go another night without food. Perhaps if he kept her distracted, others could eat in his place even. "And if you don't attack, I won't either... A truce for tonight?"
