So today I was babysitting a three year old for a few hours and I took her to a playground.  There was this monkey bars/slide thingy and one way to get up there was to klimb up a few tires connected with chains.

And there was this little boy, maybe two, and he had difficulties climbing up because the tires where just that much too far apart to be easy. No problem yet, because he was trying, and not failing. But then his grandmother came and told him how he was too small for this and how he couldn't manage it and she tried to pull him back down so he couldn't fall but he was up nearly all the way and she just kept telling him that he was too small and stuff and this just really really shocked me.
