Zhan has never trusted anyone in his time on the street, no one helped his mother or him, why should he help them or trust them? Whenever he needed something, it was a transaction, whenever he worked for someone, it was business. Friendships were never a priority for him, in his mind, they would be more mouths to feed and he was having a hard enough time keeping himself alive.

Zhan lived for a long time on the streets in Ishgard, surviving in the cold was difficult, and when he slept he dreamt of a warm home and his mother, who over time became more and more diffuse, by the time he was ten, he could no longer remember her face, to this day he only remembers that her hair was blue too.

Zhan couldn't tell if the dreams were that or nightmares, remembering his mother and the life he had before was painful, especially when he woke up and saw that he was huddled in a corner, sheltering from the cold, alone.
