Later on I'm probably going to do a secondary blog post (or maybe not we'll see) but I was visually strolling through cyberspace and in the midst of the Dove controversy the model is defending Dove AND saying she is not a victim. MA'AAAAAAAAAM first of all of COURSE you would take up for your EMPLOYER who has paid you and who you hope will pay you to be in more ads or at the very least put in a good word for you for the next modeling gig. So you have ZERO credibility, but to keep it 100 you never did have credibility with me because even after reading the creative direction of what the ad would entail you had no reservations about its overall context. And in a way I get it... You need the money and you need the gig to add to your folio. But unless you're being paid to be their Ambassador please STFU! NO ONE is concerned about YOU being a victim ... You are the estupida who signed up for the job that will confuse many little girls to come about the beauty that IS their melanin ... And cause them to compare it to what media, corporations, and models (who give no push back to creative content) want those little girls to THINK it is... "Less than" "dirty" "not good enough." Model Mami, if you think this ad is so innocent ...request to have the REVERSE where the white woman turns into the black woman... You will be fired on the spot for that request... Because here in the "states" that would be seen as them "dumbing down their brand." Even when it's not intentional the decisions come with an undercut underbelly.
