Hey everyone!

I know this isnt my usual content but I need everyone to know what is happening in the Hawaiian islands right now.

Fires have destroyed so much of the island, the most important thing for non Hawaiians to do right now is donate and not visit any of the island and further displace the residents who have been there long before Hawai’i was taken from its people. I am begging anyone who sees this to help Hawai’i

My grandmother is from Maui and I have a very personal connection to the island. I fear that an important piece of my family history will be lost. Hawaiians are some of the most amazing and kind people I’ve gotten the pleasure of meeting and it is heartbreaking this is happening to a place where people are already being displaced due to poverty and tourism.

Help save a geek tavern!

So I basically never post on here, only reblog shit I think is hilarious/awesome in some way, but today I've got something I need your help with, whether it be in the form or reblogs or donations.

A tavern geared towards geeks, nerds, and gamers in my hometown of Fort Collins, CO is in hot water and had to close suddenly due to a misunderstanding with tax payments, and now the only way they can resume operations is by raising over $60k to pay all the back taxes they had been making payments on in one lump sum (and make up for lost business, because the DOR seized their building without warning).

Dungeons & Drafts is one of very few places for fans of so many things like Harry Potter, Dr. Who, Firefly, Star Wars & Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, tabletop RPGs, video games, and so much else to gather, meet each other, and eat and drink. They serve up amazing cocktails like the Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster and Polyjuice Potion (which is a surprise each time you order it!), and shots including the HP Potion, Mana Potion, and Phoenix Down. The atmosphere looks just like a tavern or inn from a fantasy novel or movie, and decorations from the Legend of Zelda to Harry Potter to Final Fantasy hang from their walls. There is no place quite like them in town, or within over an hour's drive to the best of my knowledge.

"What's the current mood?" Asked Anya, her hand slowly spinning the spoon she just used to eat the third piece of cake. The evening is lazy, the sun just beginning to touch the horizon behind the evergrowing forest that was going to one day become hers - well, that is if Ama dies too soon, or an unfortunate accidents befall her. Her irises shifted as she glanced at her sister, sitting politely at the other side of the wooden table, eyes locked at the sight behind the large windows. Ama smiled slightly as her slightly chubby fingers played with the rim of the teacup. There was something listless in that smile, and Anya sighed as she leaned back in the chair.

 "A mood, huh?" Ama's voice was rough, perhaps from the flu she just barely shrugged off on Thursday, or maybe because she preferred to speak in writing rather than in her own voice. Anya never noticed how her sister's eyes fogged over as she thought about important things, or how she played with her glasses when she recalled important memories.  It was a good coincidence that they could sit down together that evening, Father taking over the feeding duties for the day since it just snowed, and they couldn't risk Ama getting pneumonia just after getting out of flu. They could finally talk. 

"I'd say it's the coconut song." Ama smiles as their eyes meet. 

"The coconut what?" 

The forest catches fire. The ground shakes. The sky opens up and archangel Gabriel descends, singing the hymn of making, a tale of coconut nuts.
