Conversation I had with my dad about autism this morning:

Me: hey dad, I think I might be autistic. I’ve been researching it for months now, I have most of the symptoms, I’ve passed every online autism test I’ve taken, and my friends who have autism say I probably have it too. I think I should go see a doctor about it.

Dad: oh honey, doctors will diagnose anyone with anything nowadays! They just want to prescribe you medicine so you’ll feed more money into the industry.

Me: okay but they don’t prescribe medication for autism though

Dad: still! I don’t want to take you to one of those damned doctors. You probably don’t even know what autism is anyways.

Me: okay so what is it?

Dad: autism is like…. If you dropped a container of pencils on the floor, an autistic person would automatically know how many fell without counting them!
