12, 16, 18?
12. If you had the chance to ask any NHL player a single question and have them answer 100% honestly, who would it be and what would you ask?
danny brière would have to be very very specific in explaining his living situation with claude giroux
i’d really like to pick carey price’s brain about the intersection of native identity and nhl fame because i think about that a lot but i’m really really bad at specific questions so i’d probably just fumble my way through it
16. Which game, in the entire history of hockey, would you have killed to see live?
game four of the 1970 cup final because seeing bobby orr fly makes me emotional (i have a print of that photograph hanging over my bed in my dorm room and i love it a lot)
18. What was the thing that made you really love hockey?
it seems kinda cheesy but i love almost everything about it - the smell of the ice and the way you can almost feel it from the stands when the boards rattle right in front of you and the fast pace and breakaways that make you hold your breath and the way the crowd swells and roars at each big play and high-fiving the strangers sitting next to you or dancing around like an idiot by yourself in your living room because it’s 1 am and you stayed up to watch a west coast game and getting to wear your favorite player’s name across your back and show that you’re part of something bigger than than the twenty guys sitting on the bench and how everything lends itself to narratives and how heartbreak and triumph and mistakes and redemption get swirled together and this may have gotten away from me a bit
