News of Adam's death had indeed reached Heaven. Likely from that second in command of his that Lucifer had allowed to leave. It had not been his intent to kill Adam, but in the end, it was what had happened anyway. Nobody could have seen coming what happened that day if Extermination when Niffty came out holding her little weapon. All that had mattered to him was that they had all --mostly -- made it out in one piece. Of course, after such a big name like that was taken out, it was bound to cause waves. He knew that, he anticipated it. Now, what he didn't want was for that backlash to fall back on Charlie or the hotel she put all the effort into.
Rebuilding the hotel would be easy work. Especially for Lucifer, but it was his belief that they should let things cool off a little bit before they dived right into it. Better to let the events of Adam's death and the whole televised battle settle on both ends. If Heaven was going to retaliate, he wanted to make sure they didn't face another scene like the Extermination again. No. He wasn't going to make it that easy for them to find him or his daughter. Once things were smoothed over a little bit more, then reconstruction could fully begin. Because he did intend to help Charlie with her dreams.
Retreating to the Morningstar palace seemed to be the best option for the time being. Although, honestly, it hadn't had life in it in some years. The wing that Lucifer had occupied had been left untouched for years. Charlie and Lilith's wing had been abandoned as soon as Charlie left the palace herself. Which meant the place was in need of some life. Dust covered its surfaces, and cobwebs had collected in its crevices or akong the railings to the stairwells. Plants had been left to wilt and die, and then there was the fact that every family portrait in the place had been covered by large sheets. Draping down the entirety of the frame as if Lucifer couldn't stand to look at them anymore. This was the reality of it, truly. His life had been drained of life and color when his marriage had started to grow cold when Charlie was still a child.
Oh! But it would have life now. Charlie was returning home with him for now. ...And unfortunately, so were her friends. He didn't mind if --was it Maggie or..-- her girlfriend came along, of course. It made sense for them to stay together. But Charlie had insisted that the OTHER residents came along as well. Which... fine, he could tolerate the cat bartender and the spider. Even the strange cleaning bug woman was okay, though she did sort of weird him out. It was HIM that he didn't care to invite along. The red deer man. The bane of existence. The annoying thorn in his side that he couldn't shake off. Why? Oh, because Charlie trusted him for some reason. How could he turn her down, though? The hotel had been his home, too..
"Well, this is it! It's uh.. It's been a while since any visitors have been around. So--" He cleared his throat and then leaned on the top of his apple cane. "Ahem, anyway, there's plenty of room just, uh... make yourselves at home for now."
Lucifer stood just in the doorway to the entry hall. He'd just pushed open the heavy double doors that opened up into the palace. The long, abandoned entrance hall waited just beyond. With its dead plants and cobwebs spotting the ceiling. A layer of dust settling on tapestries that hung overhead with his symbol on them, even the hall itself appeared to be dimly lit. It was like entering a dungeon more so than it was a palace. And just at the end of the long hall was a large stone staircase, which split into two directions that led to either wings of the palace.
"Aha! I'd offer a tour, but... I'm sure after everything we all just went through, rest is probably what everyone needs! Am I right?" More like he just didn't want them to see more of the sad state he'd let the place fall into.
