Well. This was certainly something new for Landrew to be doing. Willing letting himself be dragged around, in uniform just to take Willow around the market-

Usually after work he'd just pass out on his couch, and try to forget but-- It seemed like Willow just had a way with him. The curse of the younger sibling.

"Okay, okay I hear you, " she replied though mostly just wanted to show him a new stand she thought he would like.

Willow led the way to the stand she had in mind to show him.

Yes, he had wanted to say.  For me, and not for you.  To Eva, their nature and origin could be a simple source of curiosity, and perhaps even pride; for him, the realization of what he was had brought shame, horror, and pain.  They could not pretend otherwise if they meant to discuss the subject in any meaningful way.

Instead, he had only stared in helpless shock.  Adam would have fought to outmatch any enemy in an argument, and was comfortable with friendly debate, but such force of rage directed from one friend to another was not something his experiences had prepared him to understand.  Love, to him, was gentle, affectionate, and whatever disagreements might arise between companions who cared for one another, they were never this fierce.  This, then, was a second and more passionate rejection, but he fought hard not to flinch as she drew near.

Blue eyes met brown for an instant, and when her expression softened, he allowed himself to hope that perhaps Eva had relented.  But it seemed it was only to be a moment of calm before her final farewell.  Could he have changed his fate if he had begged for her forgiveness, promising to hold his tongue in the future on subjects where they were so unlikely to ever agree?  His spirit rebelled against the thought of such thorough subjugation to the will of another, but he realized in that moment that he would do just that if it meant keeping her in his life.

Yet what would be the good in pleading now?  She had already made her decision – and she was right.  In spite of everything Adam hoped would change with her creation, he was still the despised and malignant devil, and she was the best of women; their maker’s most cherished creation.  How could he ever be a fit companion for her?  Though he was envious as the archfiend was of beloved humankind in Eden, he loved Eva and could not bear to consider plotting her own fall from grace.

Unable to leave without walking past Eva in all her fury, Adam retreated upstairs, to watch for her return.  Once she re-entered the house, he would open up a window and make his exit from there, freeing her to be human.

Duncan took cover behind the wall when everything exploded. He held his hands on ears very tightly to avoid deafening sound as much as possible but the explosion was that strong that it shook whole place violently and covering his ears seemed useless. He managed to remain hidden from crumbling walls and ceiling.

As everything quietened down Duncan checked his gun. This was bad, he was running low on the bullets and had no melee weapon at hand. Duncan sighed heavily threw back his head against the wall, which hurt ever so slightly . He had to come up with something else and fast. Duncan search his pockets and found a small silver cross. Exhaling deeply Ducan shut his eyes; he could be saved after all.

A moment or two Duncan opened his eyes and stood up, holding the small cross in a fist. He walked away from his haven and made his way toward the chaos, toward her.
