Kronos has a daughter named Plouto who’s Tantalus’s mother by Zeus. That’s wild

It seems there are multiple sources that call Plouto (mother of Tantalos or in one account of Pelops) the daughter of Kronos, which naturally leads me to wonder who her mother might be.

To start off easy, the mother could be Rhea. Nonnos calls Plouto Berekyntian; Berekynthia was an epithet of Kybele, who was most often identified with Rhea. One also could, if Plouto is interpreted as agricultural wealth, draw a connection with Kronos and Rhea's daughter Demeter (the mother of Ploutos). But if we go with the identification of Plouto with Kybele and of Kybele with Rhea, as well as Plouto as abundance, then one can equally suppose that the mother of this figure could be the mother of Rhea herself: Gaia. This would make some sense on a symbolic level too, given the idea of the abundance that existed for men during the rule of Kronos and how „the fruitful earth unforced bare them fruit abundantly and without stint”. It wouldn't even need to involve a conventional sexual relationship - there are several examples of gods impregnating the earth by accident and we even have one account of Typhon's birth in which he is born from Kronos and Gaia with no direct sexual contact between them.

But maybe the mother could be Asia the daughter of Okeanos instead (not the only time Kronos would be sleeping with one of his nieces), given the (more or less direct) connections of Plouto with Asia Minor. Then the mother could also be Pleione, I suppose, since in one account Plouto is the daughter of Atlas and one could imagine that Pleione passed off the child as his or that he simply accepted Plouto as his daughter knowingly, but this would probably be my last choice. One last option I can think of right now would be Plouto the daughter of Okeanos simply because mother and daughter would share the same name, but that's pretty boring.
