American here! I don’t recall ever living in or visiting a place where the switch was OUTSIDE the bathroom. Granted, I’ve also mostly lived in places with extensive central air conditioning or a fairly dry/cold climate, so I wonder if humidity is a factor?

That is genuinely interesting.. maybe humidity is a factor bc a lot of... "traditional" or older house bathrooms tend to be wet bathrooms so I assume the humidity would be even worse... or to not accidentally zap urself w the switch?

This one's been just... stuck in my head at. I don't know what it is. Just the pacing and pauses I guess really get to me amd it's kinda upbeat and cheery. It feels like strutting down a familiar city neighbourhood on a nice day))

If you want practice with English idioms and to learn where they came from (which I know helps me sometimes) the show Manners Schmanners has Idiom episodes all the time! You can probably look up those episodes in particular!

But yeah idioms and other metaphorical language is ROUGH
