This new piece will be available at #nfcc2018 I'll be at table 24 in #artistalley! I disappeared of social media for a bit, especially instagram, and I figured explaining why might be an idea. I, for some reason, became the target for a very specific type of spammers. Ones who try to start a romantic relationship with the intention to extort money from the victim. Why they would target an artist I have no idea? It's not like I have alot of money and I was always very clear I was in a relationship. I was getting dozens of messages from multiple different people and as this was my art account I felt obligated to reply as what if they were clients. But they all had basically the same story widowed military men seperated from thier child for one reason or the other. It didnt take me long to get wise to thier game. All of these msgs became a huge time waster bordering on harassment. These followers lack of engagement on my posts was also, clearly killing my reach on the platform. So I tried to start blocking them to remove them from my profile, but I would block 5 and 5 more would follow! I basically got fed up and when I stopped using instagram entirely the harassing msgs stopped. This even started to happen on my personal Facebook account as well, but luckily there I have much more control over who can friend me in the first place. So I just enjoyed a break, and felt alot better for it. Though I am sorry to my friends who's posts I missed it was just the best thing for me. But I have new art I want to share and figured I'd give it a go again. I still have some housecleaning to do to make sure these accounts are blocked from my profile when I get the chance.
