Wasn’t always a pirate. I mean how I first started down this road, I remember a lot.

Started with me trying to ask out this one mare. Most beautiful mare I’d ever seen. Was only fifteen at the time, me bein fourteen, but she was so gorgeous and everypony thought she was great! Her name was Golden Curls. Gosh was she pretty. Got dressed in me finest clothes to ask her to go to the prom of the school I was goin’ to. Said uh...nopony would ever go out with a cock-eyed weirdo like me.

Me dad was disappointed. He went to prom when he was my age, and met me mother. He was pretty upset about it all, but, course he blamed me like he always did. Told me how I’d never be successful like him unless I “straightened up”. Kicked me out, he did. Mum hardly had a say in the matter.

Did everything I could! With what money I had I got an appartment, I even landed a part time job!...Didn’t last long though, me bein’ such a screw up an’all. Weeks went by and nopony would hire me. Don’t really blame’em.

I lost my appartment, and sold everythin’ I owned but the clothes on my back. Spent my last few bits doin’ what me father said I wasn’t stallion enough to do: Have a drink. Kept me eye covered most of the time back then, drew too much bad attention. Anyway, I’m sittin’ there drinkin’ “rum” which...didn’t taste too terrible but I don’t think I’d like to try it again if I’m honest; I overhear this stallion spinnin’ a great yarn about how they just killed a sea-monster, and made it’s head his ships headpiece!

That ponies name was Captain Cutlass. And it happened he needed a new lookout. Last one got eaten or somethin’ and I was the only volunteer! Got the best eyes he’d ever seen apparently. I can aim well enough sure but I’ve never killed anypony. Wounded’em sure, but just so they don’t get killed.

They treated me more like family than...well me own family.
